A group of Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) Students, representing all the seven centres of the country-Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai recently attended an exclusive seminar addressed jointly by a panel of economists from the World Bank and the international Monetary Fund (IMF), in Washington, DC. The seminar was part of the institute’s International programme, the Global Opportunity and Threat Analysis. Titled “ India’s Growth-surprises, idiosyncrasies, and challenges,” it saw the participation of Shantayanan Devrajan, Chief economist (world Bank’s South Asia Region). Apart from a trip to the World Bank, the students received invitations in the US. This includes a lecture tour to NYMEX, the world’s largest physical commodity futures exchange.
